I have written to Scotrail’s Managing Director, Alex Hynes, following their most recent Performance Update, which shows Cambuslang and Rutherglen commuters are being hit hard with delays.
I regularly receive messages on social media and hear from constituents on the doorstep about their frustration with the poor service through the area. These figures further evidence these concerns and show that commuters are rightfully angry.
People cannot understand why they are paying such high fares for a sub-standard service. Many hoped that the fare increase they saw in January would bring with it an improvement in performance but instead they are faced with a rail operator that blames its failures on an obligation to carry out its own basic duties.
I will continue to stand up in support of commuters in the area and make it very clear to Scotrail that this is unacceptable.
